TIYLI Introduction to Acrylics

Mondays April 6 to June 1, 7pm-10pm

This fun course introduces the endless properties of acrylic colours and mediums. Students will discover the many applications of acrylics using a range of tools on a variety of surfaces with additional insight into what makes a good painting through colour, tone and composition. Subject matter will range from still life and landscape to abstractions. Materials included.

Dive into the endless possibilities of acrylics, working intuitively, venturing into mixed media and learning from the modern masters. Students will benefit from demonstrations, critiques and personal guidance to discover their own unique expression in paint.Students must bring materials.

Another Kind of Portrait

Wednesdays April 8 to May 27, 1pm -4pm

Venturing outside of the traditional portraiture box, students will discover a colourful, expressive and efficient way to create a different kind of portrait. Starting with the understanding of the planes of the head and including value studies, we will use an array of materials and techniques (from painting and drawing, patterns to line) to understand the unique challenges of creating successful portraits from photographs or models. Students will work to develop their own expressive style of portraiture.. Students must bring materials.
