Working from a supplied Photo, you will tackle the basics in construction then move onto planes of the face and head through drawing and painting. The course will explore practical techniques, such as how to create mass, proportion, form, and value to create likeness. This course will also review a number of portrait artists, and provide positive, constructive critique.

Taking you outside of the traditional portraiture box, you will discover a colourful, expressive and efficient way to create a different kind of portrait. Using an array of materials from paint to drawing tools, from patterns to line, while learning to successfully working from photographs or a mirror!

Discover the secrets of a good painting and controlled colour application as you explore the diverse world of acrylic paints and mediums. Produce several finished paintings and create exciting guided studies as you broaden your range of expression.
Instruction will cover exercises in composition and many painting techniques, moving from slow blending to fast and thick impasto application. All techniques will be carefully demonstrated and explained in an easy to follow step-by-step format.

This workshop is ideal for everyone, whether you are an absolute beginner or are looking for a refresher. Introduction to Drawing will provide the visual tools needed to start the journey to good drawing practices.
Working through exercises for drawing proficiency, learn drawing techniques, and finding new ways of seeing and thinking about drawing.
In addition to tonal values in black, grey and white; students will be guided into transitioning those value studies into colour using coloured markers and coloured pencil.
Instruction will include demonstrations and examples of all techniques and exercises, as well as positive feedback.
